Microbiological quality of the indoor air of the central market of Cajamarca - Peru [Calidad microbiológica del aire interior del mercado central de Cajamarca - Perú]

Abstract

Los mercados en Latinoamérica son centro de conglomeración de personas, siendo estos en muchas ocasiones centros de dispersión de agentes patógenos como se ha visto en diferentes trabajos de investigación y en los diversos medios de comunicación en la actualidad. La investigación tuvo como objetivo, determinar calidad microbiológica del aire interior del mercado central de Cajamarca-Perú, con la finalidad de demostrar si existe contaminación microbiológica. Para cumplir con el objetivo se realizaron monitoreos de aire interior, haciendo uso del muestreador microbiológico Hycon standard, el cual succiona volúmenes de aire; impregnando los microorganismos aeorófilos en las cuadrículas de las tiras de agar tripticasa soya. Los monitoreos se realizaron en el turno de la mañana entre los horarios de 10.00 am. a 1.00 pm los cuales son los más concurridos por la población. Se tomaron un total de 50 muestras. Para ello se designó cinco puntos en el interior del mercado central, distribuidos de la siguiente manera en P-1 (carnes), P-2 (jugos), P-3 (frutas), P-4 (comidas) y P-5 (artesanía y abarrotes). Estas muestras fueron tomadas durante 5 días en el mes de febrero del 2020 un mes antes del inicio de la pandemia en el Perú. La norma española (UNE 100012), establece algunos estándares de calidad de aire en ambientes interiores, con un límite de 800 UFC/m3. Obteniendo como resultado en cada punto de muestreo por los cinco días un promedio de: P-1, 859 UFC/m3; P-2, 786 UFC/m3; P-3 767 UFC/m3; P-4 830 UFC/m3 y P-5 762 UFC/m3. Asimismo un resultado general con un promedio de 801 UFC/m3, durante los cinco días de monitoreo. Concluyendo que el valor obtenido sobrepasa el estándar de calidad de la norma UNE.

The objective of the investigation was to determine the microbiological quality of the indoor air of the Central Market of Cajamarca-Peru, in order to demonstrate if there is microbiological contamination. To meet the objective, indoor air monitoring was carried out, using the standard Hycon microbiological sampler, which sucks volumes of air; impregnating the aeorophilic microorganisms in the grids of the tryptic soy agar strips. The monitoring was carried out in the morning shift between the hours of 10.00 am. at 1.00 pm which are the busiest by the population. A total of 50 samples were taken. For this, five points were designated within the central market, distributed as follows in P-1 (meats), P-2 (juices), P-3 (fruits), P-4 (meals) and P-5 (crafts and groceries). These samples were taken for 5 days in February 2020, one month before the start of the pandemic in Peru. The Spanish standard (UNE 100012), establishes some air quality standards in indoor environments, with a limit of 800 CFU / m3. Obtaining as a result in each sampling point for the five days an average of: P-1, 859 CFU / m3; P-2, 786 CFU / m3; P-3 767 CFU / m3; P-4 830 CFU / m3 and P-5 762 CFU / m3. Also a general result with an average of 801 CFU / m3, during the five days of monitoring. Concluding that the value obtained exceeds the quality standard of the UNE standard.
