Determinación de las condiciones del pavimento flexible y sus causas, después del fenómeno del niño en el año 2017, aplicando el método Índice de Condición del Pavimento, en la avenida Miraflores – Trujillo

Abstract

La presente tesis, consiste en dar a conocer las condiciones y las principales causas del estado de conservación del pavimento flexible de la Av. Miraflores, basándose en el método PCI (Índice de Condición del Pavimento), el cual toma valores de severidad del estado del pavimento que van de 0 (fallado) a 100 (excelente). Para llegar a estos resultados primero se seleccionó las unidades a evaluar, siguiendo con una inspección visual detallada en toda la superficie del pavimento para determinar las fallas existentes, luego se procedió hacer el cálculo del PCI según el método. La Av. Miraflores en la ciudad de Trujillo consta de dos carriles con un ancho de 7.30m y longitud de 1621m, de las cuales se escogió 16 unidades (con área 229.95 según límite de PCI) para inspeccionar según el cálculo. Las fallas encontradas con mayor área fueron desprendimiento de agregados y parcheo, la condición del pavimento flexible es muy malo según el PCI ponderado obtenido fue de 22.25. Las principales causas del estado del pavimento flexible según el método PCI, después del fenómeno del Niño ocurrido en el 2017 fueron una mezcla de pobre calidad, un proceso constructivo deficiente, el ligante asfáltico se ha perdido debido al endurecimiento del asfalto ocasionado por el cambio de temperaturas diario y debido al envejecimiento del asfalto.

This thesis consists of presenting the conditions and the main causes of the state of conservation of the flexible pavement of Av. Miraflores, dependent on the PCI method (Pavement Condition Index), which takes severity values from the state of the pavement ranging from 0 (failed) to 100 (excellent). In order to reach these results, the units to be evaluated were first selected, followed by a detailed visual inspection of the entire pavement surface to determine the existing faults, then the PCI was calculated according to the method. Av. Miraflores in the city of Trujillo consists of two lanes with a width of 7.30m and a length of 1621m, of which 16 units (with an area of 229.95 according to the PCI limit) were chosen to inspect according to the calculation. The faults found with the largest area were detachment of aggregates and patching, the condition of the flexible pavement is very bad according to the weighted PCI obtained was 22.25. The main causes of the state of the flexible pavement according to the PCI method, after the El Niño phenomenon that occurred in 2017 were a poor quality mixture, a poor construction process, the asphalt binder has been lost due to the hardening of the asphalt caused by the change of daily temperatures and due to the aging of the asphalt.
