Esta tesis aborda el análisis del comportamiento estructural de un reservorio de sección circular apoyado, con un enfoque en la respuesta sísmica. La investigación se origina en la falta de normativas específicas en Perú para el diseño sísmico de estos reservorios, lo que lleva a la ayuda de modelos extranjeros como el de Housner, Haroun y MalZhotra, para establecer cuál ofrece un análisis más preciso del comportamiento estructural del reservorio.
Los objetivos de la investigación son analizar los modelos de Housner, Haroun y Malhotra en relación con su capacidad para evaluar la respuesta sísmica de un reservorio circular apoyado. Se calculó parámetros clave como esfuerzos, momentos, cortantes, desplazamientos y rigideces utilizando estos modelos. Se consideró tanto la masa convectiva como la impulsiva generada por el movimiento sísmico. Asimismo, se comparó la respuesta dinámica del reservorio según las recomendaciones de normas de diseño sísmico y se evalúa su aplicabilidad a los modelos analizados.
Los resultados de la investigación revelaron diferencias notables en los valores calculados utilizando los tres modelos. El modelo de Housner produjo mayores esfuerzos, momentos y cortantes en comparación con los modelos de Haroun y Malhotra. También se identificó diferencias en los desplazamientos y rigideces calculados. El modelo de Housner proporciona una estimación más conservadora de la respuesta estructural del reservorio en situaciones sísmicas.
En conclusión, la tesis demuestra que el modelo matemático de Housner es el más adecuado para evaluar el comportamiento estructural de un reservorio circular apoyado ante cargas sísmicas.
